We still have a few tables available for tomorrow! Join us for brunch from 10am to 3pm, late lunch from 3pm to 5pm and dinner from 5pm to 9pm.  A special four course menu will be available beginning at noon in addition to our à la carte menus.  Our pastry chef is putting the final touches on the Easter cookies and our staff are busy dying eggs and filling the house with Spring flowers.  Our famous carrot cake roulade and hot cross buns will also be on the menu.

If given the choice, Chef Ris always prefers to go directly to farmers markets or specialty markets to shop tangibly.  The purpose is not only to obtain the best quality ingredients that are locally sourced, but also to continue building upon decades of relationships she has developed with local farmers and vendors.   Acquiring our rotating selection of delicious cheeses is no different.  Twice a month, Chef Ris drives to Arrowine in Arlington, Virginia to select cheese with Arrowine cheesemonger, Perry Soulos.  As Chef Ris has seen how much Perry knows and loves his craft, it was no surprise to find out Perry has recently been named the nation's best cheesemonger after winning first place at the 2014 Cheesemonger Invitational held in San Francisco in January.  The testing rounds included lengthy multiple choice tests, a blind taste test, cutting, pairing with foods, wrapping, selling and sign making.  Perry competed against 50 of the best cheesemongers in the country. Congratulations, Perry, we're so happy for your win!  The cheese menu at Ris offers four selections, rotating daily.

The Elizabeth Dole Fellows dined at RIS Wednesday evening while in DC to raise awareness for Military Caregivers.  The Elizabeth Dole Foundation announced this week the formation of the National Coalition for Military Caregivers. The purpose of the Coalition is to gain support for America's hidden heros - the thousands of family members and friends who provide emotional and physical support each day to our nation's military and veterans.  To read more, visit the Elizabeth Dole Foundation website.

For the month of April, we were determined to escape the long winter and bring on the warm weather cuisine. The result brings menu selections you may find on sun baked terrains during spring break, such as ceviche and key lime pie.  And then there's the wild side representing our efforts to serve locally sourced and sustainable foods as best we can.  The "RIS Gone Wild" half of the menu showcases buffalo style sugar toads, a local blow fish found in the Chesapeake Bay, and Wild Rockfish, those gorgeous huge rocks that Winter/Spring here in the Chesapeake, Spring/Summer in the Hamptons and Summer/Fall in Nantucket where they are known by their alias, Striped Bass.
The three-course menu, listed below, includes two options for each course and is only $25.  Available Monday - Friday, 11:30am to 3pm.  The RIS "lunch club" offers RIS stamps for each lunch entrée you enjoy with us during a calendar month. The seventh lunch is on us and redeemable anytime!

Our 3-course Lunch Club Menu is only $25 and our 3-course Marquee Menu is only $35.  

 

The RIS Lunch Club menu changes each month and is available Monday through Friday, 11:30am to 3pm.  For dinner deals, our Marquee Menu is available before (5pm to 6:30pm daily) and after (10pm to 11pm, Monday - Saturday) the show.

We have expanded our family! 

 

Ris @ Union Market opened today, January 9th.  The market location features fan favorites from the RIS kitchen, such as stocks, soups and sauces. Grab a lamb shank or duck leg for dinner at home or satisfy your appetite while you shop with a RIS bowl, RIS salad or fresh baked hand pie. RIS at Union Market is open Tues - Fri from 11am - 7pm and Sat - Sun from 10am - 7pm with plenty of free parking.
