Hospitality High School of Washington, DC
A DC charter school started in 1998 which promotes success in college and the hospitality industry. As a member of the board of directors since its inception and now a part of the advisory board, Ris believes that it has been enlightening to be a part of the creation of a school and to participate in its development and growth as well as that of the students.
Ovarian Cancer National Alliance
The women chefs and restaurateurs of the metropolitan DC area gather every year to raise funds and awareness for this women’s cause. A very fatal cancer with very hidden symptoms. Find out more.
Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Foundation
Another hidden cancer. This foundation is new and was started by a very dear friend of Ris’s. Again, find out more. Great advances are being made.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
An amazing place. Ris has been involved in the yearly fundraiser gala for 11 years and always gets more than she gives.
Suited for Change
Suited for Change provides professional clothing and ongoing career and life skills education to low-income women to increase their employment and job retention potential and to contribute to their economic independence.
